Hi! My name is Marie.
I’ve been living in Japan since year 2000 and I want to share my Japan experience with you through photos and my writing. I love Hiking, Camping and anything Outdoors. I also like going to Concerts and Karaoke, Art (Painting and going to Art Museums), playing Volleyball and reading Books. I’m the type of person who will do anything at least once.
Back in 2020 when I just moved to my current city where I didn’t know anyone, Covid happened and it really affected how I socialize with people. I became introverted and making friends was too hard for me. I was alone for about 2 years and didn’t travel for a while. I’m sure it’s not just me but making new friends in your 30’s is already kinda hard, add the pandemic and new city on top of that and it was too overwhelming for me.
Fast forward to 2024 I realized that if it was hard for me even though I have old friends and family where I used to live all over Japan, imagine the ones who just came to here who doesn’t know anybody at all? So I decided to start a meet-up group in my area and eventually other people from different prefectures wants to join as well so I renamed it Japan Meet-ups & Events.
Here you can find people who would go events with you or meet if you just want to hang out. Who knows you might find a special someone there as well *wink wink*.
47 Prefectures Bucketlist
Right now I’m trying to visit all 47 prefectures and these are the ones I visited. I always gets asked for recommendation on where to go and where to stay so I decided to write places I liked and things that went wrong on my trips so people can avoid it.
Hikelogs
I’ve been hiking for some years now but I think I got really crazy about it the past year. I am trying to hike the Hyakumeizan right now but I am also open to hiking other mountains. I can go on weekends and I’m always looking for people to hike with because I’m not comfortable hiking alone yet.
